Billing, trial, and tier limits
14-day trial, what the free tier keeps after it ends, Pro, Business, and Enterprise quotas, the consultants licence, AI caps, and which features need an active entitlement.

Source of truth - Self-serve numbers on Pricing and the in-app Subscription page can change; when in doubt, open Admin → Subscription in your workspace.

Trial
New workspaces receive a 14-day free trial. The app shows how many days remain, with escalating reminders as the trial approaches its end.
During the trial you get evaluation access to paid-style workspace quotas (seeded like Pro for polls and seats) plus limited AI poll authoring (see AI table below).
If the trial expires without an active paid subscription, the workspace moves to the free tier:
- You can still sign in, read existing polls and results, and create/edit polls up to the free poll cap (3).
- AI poll authoring, bulk distribution, folder creation, and other paid settings require an upgrade (
Admin→Subscription).
Some long-lived workspaces are exempt, an ops-granted state with no trial end date. Exempt workspaces keep paid-feature access and do keep AI at the free-row caps, which an expired workspace does not. Admin → Subscription in your workspace is authoritative for what you see.
Subscription management
Open Admin → Subscription in the admin sidebar to view your plan name, seat usage, and quota usage.
Quotas (reference)
Self-serve pricing is shown on the Pricing page. The table below is a reference; your in-app Admin → Subscription view is authoritative, especially if you have a custom or sales-assisted plan.
| Tier | Max admins | Max polls | Max folders | Max recipients / poll | Max access-code recipients / poll | SSO / domains / SIEM | SCIM |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free (after trial) | 1 | 3 | 0 | 50 | 25 | No | No |
| Trial (14-day) | 5† | 200† | 50† | 2,000† | 100† | Preview‡ | Preview‡ |
| Pro | 5 | 200 | 50 | 2,000 | 100 | No | Add-on§ |
| Business | 25 | 500 | 200 | 5,000 | 500 | Yes | Yes |
| Enterprise | 1,000 | Unlimited¶ | Unlimited¶ | 25,000 | 5,000 | Yes | Yes |
† Trial workspaces use Pro-style seeded quotas for evaluation; the in-app Subscription page is authoritative.
‡ Trial and exempt workspaces can be granted compliance features early by an ops preview flag. Without that flag, trial workspaces are treated as free for compliance purposes.
§ SCIM is gated separately from the rest of the compliance bundle. SSO, verified domains, and SIEM unlock together at Business. SCIM unlocks at Business, or on any tier that carries an active SCIM add-on. A Pro workspace with the add-on has SCIM and does not have SSO.
¶ Enterprise "unlimited" items are subject to fair use and infrastructure limits.
A note on SCIM and offboarding
SCIM reads and DELETE stay available after a plan lapses; only create and update writes are gated. This is deliberate: if your plan ends, you must still be able to deprovision a departing employee. Losing the ability to revoke access because of a billing problem would turn it into a security problem.
The consultants and agencies licence
Consultancies, investigators and fractional HR who run surveys inside client engagements don't buy one of the three cards above. They buy a licence that sits on their own workspace and sponsors the client workspaces they create.
| Piece | What it means |
|---|---|
| Annual licence | $3,588 a year |
| Included engagements | five live client workspaces |
| Extra engagements | $59 a month each, prorated |
| Client workspaces | no subscription, no card |
A sponsored client workspace reads its entitlement from the licence, stays on the free plan tier, and doesn't inherit the compliance bundle. A client that wants SSO or SCIM buys its own plan or takes over its own subscription. The full model is in The consultants and agencies licence.
Which features need an active entitlement
Most gates in the product are on your entitlement, which is "active paid, trial, or exempt", not on your plan name. A trial workspace is on the free tier with an active entitlement, so it gets everything in the first group. A few features sit behind Business and Enterprise; a trial reaches those through the Business features preview.
| Feature | Needs |
|---|---|
| Recurring pulse series | active plan or trial |
| Anonymous replies and return codes | active plan or trial |
| Share a slice, 3 live links per poll | active plan or trial |
| Share a slice, 20 live links per poll | Business, Enterprise, or preview |
| Speak-up inbox | Business, Enterprise, or preview |
| Bulk distribution and roster attributes | active plan or trial |
| AI poll authoring | AI caps below; none after an ended trial |
| AI reading of a pasted form | AI poll authoring |
| Importing an export file | every plan |
| You said, we did action plans | every plan |
| Posting an update to Slack | active plan or trial |
Pasting a form on a workspace without AI authoring still works: it's parsed in your browser for free. See Recurring pulse series, Share a slice, The Speak-up inbox and case status and Importing questions from another tool for each gate in context.
AI poll authoring (reference)
AI generate/refine and single-question improve are not available once a trial has expired without a subscription. Caps below are per workspace / day (fixed window from the first request in the period). Full how-to: AI poll building.
| Tier | Generations / day (generate + refine) | Improves / day (single question) |
|---|---|---|
| Free, expired trial | Not included | Not included |
| Free, exempt workspace | 5 | 25 |
| Trial (14-day) | 5 | 20 |
| Pro | 40 | 100 |
| Business | 100 | 400 |
| Enterprise | 1,000 | 5,000 |
The two "free" rows differ because the gate is your entitlement, not your plan name. An expired trial gets zero; an ops-exempt workspace on the same free tier gets the free-row caps. If an operator raised your plan tier during a trial, the trial uses that tier's caps instead of 5/20.
