Workspace poll templates

2 min readUpdated May 6, 2026

What are workspace templates?

Workspace templates let your organization save complete poll configurations — questions, branching rules, and default settings — as reusable starting points. Unlike code presets (which ship with InviziPoll), workspace templates are created by your team and reflect your specific needs.

When someone creates a poll from a workspace template, the template's configuration is copied into a fresh poll with new question identifiers and a new encryption keypair. The original template is unchanged.

Permissions

Saving templates is restricted to workspace owners and admins. This prevents template sprawl and ensures organizational standards are set by people with that authority.

Using templates to start a new poll is available to all workspace members who can create polls. Members see workspace templates alongside code presets in the template picker on the wizard's first step.

Members do not see Save to workspace (or any template save action) and cannot access template management under SettingsWorkspace.

Saving a template

There are two ways to save a template:

  1. From the wizard's Review step — after building a poll, use Save to workspace (owners and admins only). You'll be prompted for a template name. The current questions, branching rules, and applicable settings are captured. Sensitive fields like poll passwords are excluded.

  2. From a published poll's detail page — use Save to workspace in the poll actions (owners and admins only). This captures the poll's definition as it was published.

Template quotas

To keep your workspace manageable, templates have a hard cap:

  • Trial workspaces: up to 20 templates
  • Paid plans (Pro, Business, Enterprise): up to 500 templates

If you hit the limit, delete unused templates from Workspace settings → Templates before saving new ones.

Managing templates

Workspace owners and admins can manage templates under Workspace settings → Templates. From there you can:

  • Browse all workspace templates with a searchable list
  • Rename a template to keep your library organized
  • Preview a template's questions in a read-only view
  • Delete templates that are no longer needed

Deleting a template does not affect any polls that were previously created from it — those polls are independent copies.

What a template captures

A template stores the following from the source poll:

  • All questions (text, type, options, scale parameters)
  • Branching rules between questions
  • Default settings for recipient thresholds, retention, and distribution toggles

A template does not store poll passwords, access codes, encryption keys, recipient lists, or any response data.
