Creating your first poll
Heads up — The default is the step-by-step wizard; you can switch to the classic single-page editor. Poll keys are created in the browser at publish time—the server does not hold plaintext keys or answers.
Open the builder
From the sidebar, go to Polls, then click Create poll, or use Create a new poll from the dashboard. The default is the step-by-step builder.
The wizard title in-app is Create poll. Step labels and descriptions match the guided poll builder:
| Step | Label | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Template | Start from a template or blank |
| 2 | Basic info | Title, folder, and timing |
| 3 | Questions | Questions and branching |
| 4 | Demographics | Cohort dimensions |
| 5 | Distribution | Access and sharing |
| 6 | Review | Confirm and publish |
Use Back / forward navigation between steps; the final action on the review step is Publish poll (shows Publishing… while saving).
Classic editor
If you prefer the single-page form, click Use the classic editor (wizard subtitle) or classic editor from the poll list footer. The breadcrumb label is New Poll (Classic).
Basic info labels you will see
- Title — placeholder Poll title
- Location — Private poll vs Team folder (non-enterprise); enterprise copy explains polls live in a folder and mentions the automatic My Polls folder
- Folder combobox with placeholder Select folder…
- Expiration date & time — required
- Data retention after poll closes (days) — options 7 / 14 / 30 / 60 / 90 days; helper text Responses will be permanently deleted after this period.
Cryptography at publish time
Publishing generates poll keys in your browser; the server stores public material and encrypted artifacts only—never plaintext keys or response content in normal operation.
Next: Sharing your poll.
